THE ROLE

This is a full time position located in Parramatta with WFH opportunities (after completion of probation).

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Leading and managing a portfolio of audit clients across a variety of industries.
  • Overseeing all stages of the audit process — planning, execution, and completion — to ensure high-quality, compliant outcomes.
  • Reviewing financial statements and ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards.
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing audit team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients by providing clear communication, proactive advice, and genuine value beyond compliance.
  • Identifying process and control improvement opportunities and delivering practical recommendations.
  • Working closely with Partners and Directors to resolve complex accounting and audit matters.
  • Ensuring engagement delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with firm standards and client expectations.
  • Contributing to Spry Roughley’s culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting business development activities and helping grow the firm’s audit and assurance offering.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

You will have:

  • CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) and relevant tertiary degree.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in external audit within a professional services firm.
  • A thorough understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and Auditing Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple engagements and client relationships.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing others.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver practical, value-driven outcomes.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to contribute to the wider team and firm culture.
  • Experience working in mid-tier firms (highly regarded).
  • Exposure to CaseWare or similar audit software (advantageous).
